News friends, and tiny fish and chips…

It’s a strange thing when you move to a new country and have no, or very few, friends nearby.  But I have been very fortunate.  Friends have been generously donating their friends to me!  What I mean is, I have friends who know people in Nagoya, and so they have kindly put me in touch with their friends.  And everyone is so friendly and great!

Tonight I met my friend Ed’s friend Lena, and a couple of her friends for dinner near Nagoya Station.  We went to this great Italian place.  The food was great – lots of seafood – and the wine was good too (from NZ of course!).  But the best thing had to be the tiny fish and chips we shared!  It was so cute – just a little basket with sort of cod nuggets and fries.

Here’s Lena and Tomoko posing with the fish and chips for me!

It was so nice to have a girly night out, lots of English and a little Japanese, and to have a laugh with some new friends!

Here’s to many more – かんぱい!
