The sweetest present

I know I’ve been sharing a lot of pictures of stuff recently, but I’ve had a birthday and Christmas, and I’ve been very lucky. My Japan collections are fully topped up for the year to come, which is just as well as I now need to save my pennies for my Japan trip in May.

One of the sweetest presents I received for Christmas were these handmade matcha sweets:

Japanese sweets with green tea

Japanese sweets with green tea (cups are a souvenir from my first trip to Nara in 2006)

My Mum made these green tea sweets for me, and they went perfectly with a cup of Japanese green tea. The ones in little cases are ‘Matcha White Chocolate Fudge with Red Bean filling‘ and the others are ‘Matcha and White Chocolate Truffles‘ (I’ve linked to the original recipes). They were both absolutely delicious, and kept nicely in the fridge for a few days. The green ones were called ‘fudge’ but they weren’t fudgy at all. Still, they were yummy!

It’s lovely to have a handmade gift, and one with a Japanese touch is even more well received. My Mum has always been very supportive of my interest in Japan, as this wonderful gift shows. Thanks Mum! (*^_^)v
