Teaching kids…

I started ‘kids training’ today. It was soooooo much fun! ๐Ÿ˜€ I think it’s going to be pretty hard work still, but we get to sing songs and dance and make complete fools of ourselves, so that’s got to be good, right? I have to prepare a lesson for tomorrow, but we’re not teaching real … Continue reading

I love this country!

The smallest, silliest things are making me happy about being in Japan at the moment! Today I finally found a proper, Tesco-style supermarket!ย  I know, I know, it sounds like a pretty ridiculous thing to be excited about, but it was so cool!ย  As a tourist you really never see these things – just convenience … Continue reading

Inkan (ใ„ใ‚“ใ‹ใ‚“)

Yesterday I went to buy my inkan (ใ„ใ‚“ใ‹ใ‚“) (also known as a hanko/ใฏใ‚“ใ“). Inkan are stampers or seals depicting the person’s name. What the?!

Ok, so I’m in my hotel room, and I suddenly hear this tuneful little ditty playing on repeat.ย  I look out of the window and there’s this little truck driving past really slowly, playing this tune (a sort of “doodle dooooo, doooodle dooo do”).ย  As it passes the hotels and other buildings in the street, … Continue reading

I found fruit! Yes, whilst I was stood in the Mini Stop, photocopying (yes, I successfully used a photocopier entirely in Japanese today!), I spotted a little fruit shop! The bananas I got weren’t amazing, in fact, they were a little manky, but they were the best bananas I’ve tasted in like a week or … Continue reading
