If you’re in London right now, it would be totally worth your while to pay a visit to Selfridges. Normally I’m not a fan of department stores, but Selfridges’ current window displays are more than enough to entice me inside and make me come over all ‘Sex and the City’. Since the end of August, all 24 of Selfridges’ windows have been completely taken over by the 84-year old Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and her crazy, dotty world.
Models of Kusama herself feature heavily in the displays and, to be honest, they’re a little bit freaky (but kind of cool, too).
There’s even a giant statue of Kusama on top of the store, which I managed to miss because it was raining heavily (I didn’t know London had typhoon season, but apparently it does!), but you can see it here.
Inside the store there’s a Yayoi Kusama/Louis Vuitton concept store where you can buy items from the latest collaborative collection (or, if you’re skint like me, you can just wander around touching things and pretending you’re Carrie Bradshaw, while being glared at by security guards).
Look at the shoooooooes!
And the bags!!
The Kusama concept store in Selfridges is open until 19th October.
