Häagen-Dazs Yuzu Citrus & Cream

Japan has lots of interesting ice cream flavours, and one thing I really miss is checking out the new seasonal flavours of Häagen-Dazs that used to crop up every now and then. When I was in Japan last year I tried the Spoon Vege flavours, which were actually pretty good, and I often see more flavours cropping up online that I would love to try. As well as ordinary flavours like strawberry and obvious Japanese flavours like matcha (green tea), there are also Häagen-Dazs ice creams with mochi in and other unique Japanese flavours such as azuki (red bean).

Imagine my delight when I discovered that the UK is finally, slowly, cottoning on to Japanese Häagen-Dazs flavours! I think we are far away from finding matcha or mochi or our ice cream, but the new Limited Edition Häagen-Dazs Yuzu Citrus & Cream will do for now!

It is divine. The creamy vanilla sweetens the tartness of the yuzu (ユズ) (a citrus fruit originating in East Asia), and the overall flavour is just really, really good. It tastes like summer, and indeed if I’m not careful my summer might taste like this! 😉

Bring on the summer!

In case the ice cream is not enough to keep you entertained all summer, Häagen-Dazs have come up with a yuzu origami tutorial as well…

  1. Ahhh Häagen-Dazs. You know, it has been years since I’ve eaten any. I’m more taken by the seasonal and limited edition beers than any of the candy. I think my wife would agree with you, though. She doesn’t really like sweets, but Häagen-Dazs is an exception.
